Quantum Composers Announces New MicroJewel Ultra Compact Lasers
New Efficient and Rugged Q-switched laser with minimal weight and power consumption
(Bozeman, MT) Quantum Composers, a leading manufacturer of lasers and systems, has launched a new ultra-compact, Nd:YAG MicroJewel laser. This new diode pumped, solid state line of lasers will be added to their growing collection that already features a robust high performance multi-wavelength Jewel as well as a Mid-IR option. The MicroJewel is the perfect solution for customers who have limited space and or limited power, with its ultra-compact design and minimal power consumption. At just 3 inches in length and weighing 40 grams it is designed to be integrated into systems requiring a small footprint, including the most compact handheld units. It will serve a variety of industrial and laboratory applications including laser radar, breakdown spectroscopy, particle image velocimetry and cube satellite systems. Due to its unique size and power requirements it can also be easily integrated for portable, handheld and mobile LIBS and LIDAR systems.
The MicroJewel came to life when customers were demanding a mono-block style, compact laser for portable applications. It was designed with "Military Grade" mounting for the resonator optics to make it a rugged and robust resonator. The MicroJewel is a passive Q-switched laser, weighs just under 40g, and is an end-pumped diode for efficiency with excellent thermal path for the diode and laser rod. It was uniquely designed to have different optical configurations that can be optimized for different parameters (divergence vs. energy) depending on customer needs.
The MicroJewel will be the newest and smallest in the Quantum Composers line. They are currently available for pre-order with the first units expected to ship in October 2016. At just 3 inches long, its compact, inline resonator will reduce the space and weight limits on laser systems. It also features an integrated thermal management system designed for applications that require high reliability.
